It is finally good news to the all mountain lovers that Nepal Government has decided to reduce the permit fee for the Nepali mountain for the off peak season effective from July 16, 2008. The Nepali mountain which are considered to be the charm for the world mountaineers are reduced by 50% in the normal permit fee for the autumn season and 75% for the summer and winter season. Autumn season is considered to be September 1 to November 30, where as summer season is begins from June 1 to August 31 and similarly winter season is set to start from December 1 to February 28. This decision has been taken as the Nepal Government’s recent tourism policy to develop Nepal as all season holiday destinations.

The government also exempted permit fees for all mountains which located in the mid-western and far-western regions for the next five years i.e. till July 15, 2013. Similarly an expedition team could accommodate up to 15 climbers instead of existing up to 12 climbing team members.

Nepal, home to eight of the world's 14 highest mountains, has more than 2,000 Himalayan peaks -- 326 of them open to foreign climbers. Around 20 percent of the total tourist arrivals in Nepal do Trekking and mountaineering activities.
